Upcoming Council Vacancies

Are you interested in volunteering to serve on the Halsey City Council? There are four Council positions up for election—the Mayor position and three Council seats. Terms begin in 2025. The Mayor serves a two-year term, and Councilors serve a four-year term.

Council is the City’s official policy and decision-making body. Councilors also serve as members of the Budget Committee. Regular meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Generally, there are a few additional special meetings held throughout the year to conduct work sessions, set goals, or review the Budget. The Mayor leads all meetings but does not vote unless a tie break is needed.

Election packets are available at City Hall during business hours and on our elections page. Halsey voters elect these positions at-large, meaning candidates can live in any area within city limits. Once elected,  Council Members represent all City of Halsey constituents. The City of Halsey allows filing of candidacy in two ways: by declaration, ($10 fee, deadline for completing the filing process is August 27th, by 4 p.m.), or by petition (deadline is August 14th by 5 p.m.).
